Visiting the adjacent sanctuary and accompanied by the elephant's own Mahout, you can see elephants up close and walk through the surrounding jungle together. Guests can join the Mahouts as they care for the elephants, watch them bathe in the river and feed them. This is a truly memorable Thai experience.
Culture & History
The Golden Triangle is a magical place where the misty mountains present some of Thailand's most historic, oldest civilisations. The 'Golden Triangle' gained its name from the region's historical connection with the growth and production of opium - the area was the centre of Thailand's booming opium trade. The Thailand government eradicated all opium production in 1902 and today, the fields are home to tea plantations and fruit-laden orchards. To learn more about the interesting, dark history of the region, visit the Hall of Opium museum.
