Four Reasons to Love Cape Sounio a Grecotel Resort to Live

Our thoughts on this 5-star oasis on the Athens Riviera...

After its property-wide renovation was completed in April 2025, Cape Sounio a Grecotel Resort to Live joins Elegant Resorts as a luxurious landmark resort in the Athens Riviera. This stunning resort places you amongst nature, heritage, history and mythology. Fresh, modern and peaceful, its new additions include a poolside and an à la carte restaurant, the Ploe Spa and a range of activities such as diving, gardening and outdoor cinema.

It's a Great Choice for a Family Holiday

Laura Long

Being a Grecotel property, Cape Sounio is yet another example of their family-first ethos. There's a lot of choice for villas here, giving options for families of all sizes. The private pools mean kids can cause a splash whilst you can still watch over them, and the Grecobaby service means you can order baby equipment and food before your stay.
Away from your accommodation, there's a great kids' club - Grecoland - where activities include star gazing and looking at local museum artefacts. It also includes complimentary snacks throughout the day and lunch at Grecoland Tasty Corner. There are also lots of sports available at the resort, including football and tennis.

Even better, whilst the kids are at Grecoland, parents can head to the wellness centre to enjoy a massage or relax in the indoor freshwater heated pool.

There's Variety in the Dining at Cape Sounio

Amy Alford

The dining options stood out to me. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from, with something for everyone: an extensive buffet restaurant, and speciality restaurants serving Greek Mediterranean, international and seafood. More than this, though, I love that whichever restaurant you choose to dine in, you will have an amazing view of the Temple of Poseidon.
Yali Seafood restaurant is a favourite for many. It has a menu of fresh Greek dishes which feels anchored to a waterfront deck setting. You'll also get uninterrupted views of the Temple of Poseidon as you dine.
If you want something special though, private dining is also available. The staff will help you create your own personalised dining experience in a location of your choice.

You're Near Lots of Things to Do in Attica

Ben Morgan

You're in a really nice spot with Cape Sounio, where the Attic Peninsula is yours to discover. There are clear waters and golden sands all around the coastline of Cape Sounio, so you can relax on nearby beaches if you're looking for a laid-back holiday. Or if the ancient sites are what sent you to Greece, you have the Temple of Poseidon just minutes away, and Athens is only an hour's drive.

My recommendation would be to take a day trip to Lavrio. This charming port town is a hidden gem, only 15 minutes away from the hotel, with seafood tavernas serving delicious food and quaint local shops to buy your souvenirs from.

You Can Easily Combine Cape Sounio with Athens

Wendy Carey

Twinning this with Athens is going to give you the best of Greece. Cape Sounio a Grecotel Resort has this lovely sandy beach with amazing views of the Temple of Poseidon, comfy sunbeds and a peaceful atmosphere. It's great for relaxing.
But when combined with The Dolli at Acropolis - A Hotel to Live you get to see the heart of Athens and neighbouring fishing villages like Plaka.
It's the perfect combination, and what's more, these are both Grecotel hotels, so you still get incredible service, great facilities and always have a view of the ancient sites - The Dolli offers breathtaking views of the Acropolis. I would suggest two nights in Athens and then five nights in Cape Sounio for a relaxing week away with just a touch of exploring.
