Though filled with adventures, the island also has a seriously serene side, making it fabulous for honeymoons, anniversaries or couples simply wanting to get far away from the everyday. Days can be spent walking hand-in-hand along some of the world's most beautiful beaches, making memories together as you swim alongside gentle turtles, or admiring the sunset as you sail by luxury yacht. Away from the coast, you can stroll through the peaceful ambience of Hunte's Gardens - a picturesque botanical haven formed of 'mini gardens', backed by the sound of continuously playing classical music. You may also wish to visit George Washington House for an insight into how Barbados played a role in the settlement of America, or those travelling with families can venture to Arlington House Museum in Speightstown for an engaging and interactive museum experience.
Another huge part of Bajan culture? Rum! Head to the Mount Gay Rum Distillery to discover the origins of one of the world's most famous rums, perfected over 300 years. as well as tasting this terrific tipple.

Cobblers Cove (a luxurious, English country house-style hideaway on the northwest of Barbados) is home to the highly regarded Camelot Restaurant. This elegant eatery is all about celebrating local produce, and resident fisherman Barker brings his fresh catch to Bajan chef Jason Joseph each day.

If beaches, culture, relaxation, adventure and dreamy dining weren't enough, Barbados is also pretty close to paradise for sports lovers. The balmy, year-round climate makes it a blissful destination for golfers, whether you're near scratch or just starting out. Sandy Lane takes golf very seriously, home to three world-class courses (including the Tom Fazio-designed Green Monkey) all of which have played host to golf's biggest names in the past.
