Kingfisher Bay Resort is an eco-resort on the world’s largest sand island, K’Gari or Fraser Island. World Heritage-listed with white beaches, turquoise water, wildlife, and quintessentially Australian bush at every turn makes this a must-do Australian adventure. With a choice of restaurants, bars, four lagoon-style swimming pools, a general store, day spa and tennis courts, there is plenty to keep you entertained. Kingfisher Bay’s real attraction though lies in its exceptional location on K’Gari, an island where adventure comes naturally. Head out on the 4WD trails, either under your own steam or on a guided adventure, seeking out the wildlife and island highlights. Embark on marine eco adventures on the remote northwest coastline or go in search of whales when the season is right. Swim in the gin-clear fresh waters of Lake McKenzie or explore the walking trails of Fraser Island’s Great Walks on foot. Alternatively, you may be looking for a more relaxing experience where you can hop on a Segway, spend lazy days on the beach, paddle the calm waterways or head for the spa, for a truly relaxing afternoon. Whatever you choose to do, K’Gari and the Kingfisher Bay Resort offers an authentically Australian experience.

Climate

Gold Coast experiences a sub-tropical climate During the summer months of December to February is when the Gold Coast experiences most of its annual rainfall. The average temperatures range between 20°C and 28°C. The hot days are often followed by tropical storms at night. This is an ideal time of year to visit the rainforests and mountain creeks that surround the Gold Coast.

Winter on the Gold Coast sees whales visiting the coast line, the cooler days are great days to get out on the water to whale watch. The cooler temperatures mean that there is also less humidity and less rain so it is the perfect time to spend at the beach and surfing.

The autumn days, March to May, are generally sunny and warm followed by equally warm nights and drier than the summer days. The humidity is lower as well. Autumn on the Gold Coast is the perfect time to enjoy sailing and other water sports due to the winds still being strong and tropical storms being less frequent.

Spring is similar to autumn on the Gold Coast; with a rising humidity as September to November roll by with increasing rainfall and temperatures. This is also the windiest part of the year for the Gold Coast so sports such as sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing and kite boarding are perfect to enjoy.
