Climate

Dominica has a tropical climate, hot and humid all year round, with a relatively cool and dry season from January to mid-April and a hot, humid and rainy season from mid-June to mid-November. Between them, there are two transitional periods: from mid-November to early January (when the temperature decreases a bit, and the weather gets better) and from mid-April to Mid-June (when both the temperature and the frequency of downpours gradually increase).

Getting There

There are flights from Antigua and Barbados to Douglas Charles Airport on Dominica. Your Luxury Travel Specialist will advise the best way to arrive according to your bespoke itinerary.

Natural Delights

It is no surprise that Dominica is nicknamed the Caribbean’s ‘nature island’, home to a variety of striking landscapes. Timeless rainforests conceal beautiful waterfalls, hot springs, and one of the largest active boiling lakes in the world, while 365 rivers, mighty volcanoes and countless rivers promise yet more adventures in the great outdoors. If you like hiking, Dominica is the destination for you, the island offering an array of trails for all levels of experience and fitness. Whether you choose to traverse volcanic hills, hike around freshwater lakes, squeeze through striking gorges or stroll along the rugged coastline, expect glorious vistas and rewarding routes.

Natural Delights
Marine Adventures

As well as the island’s striking interiors, Dominica is surrounded by beautiful beaches, clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, making it one of the Caribbean’s top diving and snorkelling destinations. Spot colourful tropical fish and other magical marine life as you glide through eerie caves and past plunging cliff walls, with a range of varying sites for you to choose from. You can also take to the waves with fishing adventures, sunset boat trips, kayaking and more.

Marine Adventures
Birding

Paradise for bird watchers, Dominica is home to an array of rare and wonderful species – including Sisseriou and Jaco parrots that aren’t found anywhere else in the world! The Morne Trois Pitons National Park was established primarily to protect the habitat of these striking species, home to the Syndicate Nature Trail and Parrot Preserve – a great place to spot them! Several other species can be spotted here during migration periods – from September to November (southbound) and February to March (northbound).

Birding
Roseau

Compact, charming and colourful, the capital of Roseau was built on the ancient Kalinago Indian villa of Sairi. Today, the town is quaint and easy to explore on foot, home to a variety of 18th century French architecture, the bustling Old Market Square, the New Market, Dominica Museum, beautiful Botanical Gardens and more.
