Luxury Holidays At &Beyond Bateleur Camp

Located at the base of the Great Rift Valley and the edge of the Maasai Mara, &Beyond’s Bateleur Camp is the epitome of laid-back luxury. The vintage-style of the camp takes you back to an era of great exploration, furnished with antique maps, leather travel trunks and brass compasses. It was in this area of the Oloololo Escarpment that the final scenes of ‘Out of Africa’ were filmed.

There are two camps of nine tented suites and each camp has its own pool. The suites are elegant and comfortable, with indoor and outdoor showers, bathtubs and that all important coffee station to kick start your early morning safari. Dedicated butlers are on hand to book an in-room massage, hot air balloon ride or a visit to a local Maasai community. Head to the gin bar for the perfect African sundowner, or relax with a book from the camp’s impressive collection. After your evening game drive, lanterns and candles lead you to dinner, often served under a blanket of stars. Delicious meals are presented on china plates and accompanied by fine wines in crystal glasses, after which most guests gather around the campfire for a night cap and to relive their day’s incredible wildlife encounters.

Safari

Enjoy unforgettable morning and afternoon game drives or, if you prefer, a full day on safari with a picnic lunch - often popular when the famed Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra passes through the Maasai Mara. Outside of the migration, there is plenty of wildlife action with the ‘Big Five’, as well as giraffe, gazelle, elephant and warthogs, all making their home in the Mara. For a closer interaction with the Maasai Mara’s smaller species, enjoy a bush walk with expert guides and trackers. Learn the art of tracking as you identify animal footprints and learn the medicinal purposes of the plants around the camp.
