Embark on a scenic flight by helicopter or combine with hiking or biking for even more adventure, explore the vast grounds on horseback, go further afield on a 4WD trip, or discover the local wine making regions, there's sure to be an activity to suit. Learn about the conservation efforts in the area - there might even be a chance to get hands on helping to replant areas with native trees. Sport and leisure activities abound as well - there's ski fields nearby, the chance to try Via Ferrata rock climbing, calm lake waters perfect for paddle boarding, and, back at the lodge, a terrace with amazing views is an idyllic place to practise yoga or pilates.

These two standalone suites sit adjacent to the main homestead approximately 25m away and are shaded by native beech trees. Back in Christchurch, book window-seats on the TranzAlpine Express for a rail journey of mesmerising views to Arthur’s Pass National Park.

Walking trails interweave across the island, attracting hordes of hikers and birdwatchers – look out for little blue penguins, yellow-eyed penguins, the delightfully shy brown kiwi (or Tokoeka) and two species of parrots, the Kaka and the Kea.
