City Highlights

Singapore provides a rich mixture of eastern and western cultures. The city's skyline resembles the west, with a hub of international businesses and western skyscrapers, whereas the city's ground level is awash with eastern districts, including Chinatown, Arab Street and Little India. Venture to the Botanic Gardens or Singapore Art Museum, refuelling en route at the various Asian snack vendors. Food, as in much of Asia, is a national pastime and, with such a wealth of international dining options to discover, you certainly won't go hungry. Of course, you couldn't stay at Raffles Hotel Singapore and not experience the city's favourite (and most iconic) refreshment, the Singapore Sling. It was, after all, invented in the hotel.

Climate

For the most part, Singapore remains hot and humid throughout the year, with tropical temperatures rarely dipping lower than 20°C. From the beginning of November until mid-March, the north east monsoon brings cooler temperatures, whilst daily showers can last for long periods of time and can be heavy. The south west monsoon (June to September) brings higher temperatures, but the least amount of rainfall. Whenever you explore beguiling Singapore, we advise that you carry a bottle of water for hydration as well as an umbrella, whilst a light cover up may be useful for when you check out the sleek, air-conditioned shopping malls.
