Luxury Holidays At Wild Coast Tented Lodge
Lying on a deserted beach on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, the Wild Coast Tented Lodge is aptly named. Intentionally designed to meld with the landscape, this exceptional resort comprises 28 luxurious tents which mirror the shape and colours of the boulders strewn along the shoreline and boasts an open-sided bamboo-clad dining pavilion and a vast freeform swimming pool. The camp’s biggest attraction is arguably its neighbour, the wildlife rich and much loved, Yala National Park. Yala is renowned for its population of leopard (from the air, the camp resembles a leopard’s paw) and a diverse habitat of bushland, rocky outcrops, grassy plains, and sandy beaches. Included safari experiences take guests deep into the park by 4WD or on foot, in search of bears, crocodiles, leopards, and the elephants that are often spotted frolicking in the waves. There is also a prolific bird population. Dining in the pavilion is a memorable experience showcasing delicious Sri Lankan cuisine with the sights and sound of the bush around you, whilst the Ten Tuskers Bar is reminiscent of the pioneer camps of old, with low slung leather chairs, and an impressive bamboo chandelier gently swaying above the bar. Carefully curated experiences also include jungle monastery visits, rural bicycle tours and the Sanctuary Spa, where you can indulge in a little pampering between safaris.
