Dunia Camp is located in the heart of the Serengeti, meaning that it benefits from the famed Great Wildebeest Migration on its northward graze and on its southbound return. It is an intimate camp comprising just eight tented suites, one of which has been designed especially for families. A classic African camp offering an authentic Serengeti experience, the en suite facilities include traditional safari bucket showers.  To minimise its impact on the environment, the camp operates on solar power, though doesn't compromise on creature comforts; there are battery and USB chargers in each tent so that you can capture those wildlife moments on your camera.

Start your day with a hearty cooked breakfast before heading off on safari, or opt for a picnic as you watch the spectacular sunrise over the Serengeti Plains. When you return from your safari, relax in the comfy leather arm chairs before dining in the central Mess Tent, lit with hurricane lanterns of a bygone era.

Dunia Camp boasts a glorious location, offering access to the three exceptional game-viewing areas of Seronera, the Moru Kopjes and the southern Serengeti plains. As a result, it’s not uncommon to see animals moving in and around the camp area. Relax in camp between your early morning and afternoon safaris and keep a look out for lion, elephant, hyena, leopard, cheetah and zebra from your private verandah. If you prefer, the camp can pack a delicious picnic lunch so that you can spend the whole day on safari. What's more, Dunia's vehicles are equipped with charging points and fridges to ensure your gin and tonic is at the perfect temperature for your on-safari sundowner!

Luxury Family Holidays

A great safari base for families, Dunia Camp allows children over the age of five and houses a dedicated, two-bedroom Family Tent that can sleep up to five people. Safety is naturally the number one priority when it comes to children, so because of its open location, Dunia Camp does not have a dedicated children’s programme. Despite this, families are encouraged to take a private vehicle so that the safari timings can be arranged to suit all members of the family - no matter how old or young.

The climate of the Serengeti National Park is subtropical. May to August is dry and relatively cool; September to October is warmer still and remains dry; while November to April experiences more rain, though still with warm temperatures. Wildlife

The vast Serengeti National Park covers an area of nearly 13,000 square kilometres and is home to resident populations of lion, cheetah, giraffe and elephant. Rhinoceros, zebra and gazelles can also be seen grazing on the open plains, whilst hippopotamus wallow in the rivers. With 500 recorded bird species, this is truly a wildlife paradise.  With the annual wildebeest and zebra migration passing through the park, it’s no wonder the Serengeti National Park is on most people’s bucket list.

The Great Migration

One of the most spectacular wildlife experiences in the world can be seen in the Serengeti National Park, when over two-million wildebeest and half-a-million zebra migrate across the plains, in search of nutritious grass shoots, following the annual rains. It’s hard to comprehend the sheer volume of animals until you witness first-hand the vast herds as far as the eye can see. 

Walking Safaris

Accompanied by an experienced guide and armed ranger, a walking safari is a great way to gain a greater insight into the eco-systems of the Serengeti. Learn how to identify the tracks of animals , as well as which plants are used for medicinal purposes by the Maasai, as you journey on foot.
