Heritage and History

England boasts a rich and fascinating history. Learn more about the world-famous royal family with a visit to London’s famed Buckingham Palace, or explore the grounds of Windsor Castle in beautiful Berkshire. Marvel at iconic Stone Henge, perhaps the most famous prehistoric monument in the world, visit the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, or learn more about the Romans at Hadrian’s Wall. Our Concierge will be pleased to arrange a variety of exciting experiences that truly embrace the history of England.

Heritage and History
Rural Delights

England’s rolling meadows and stretching countryside are among the gloriously green country’s greatest allures. Officially an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the richly rural Cotswolds offers over 3,000 miles of footpaths and bridleways, 4,000 miles of historic stone walls, enchanting ancient woodlands and meadows filled with wildflowers, as well as honey-coloured villages, longstanding literary connections, old inns, gourmet restaurants and an exceptional local food and drink scene - particularly cheese, meats and drinks. Further north, the Lake District provides a literary legacy and stunning natural beauty, while the Yorkshire Dales offer a rugged backdrop to hiking and biking, home to The Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside.

Rural Delights
Art, Literature and Film

Some of the world’s most iconic literary figures through history come from England, their legacy still seen today. Explore Stratford-Upon-Avon for a glimpse of where Shakespeare was born and raised, live like Jane Austen in beautiful Bath, see the world through Wordsworth’s eyes up at Lake Windemere, view the windswept moorlands of West Yorkshire that inspired the Brontë sisters, or visit the house where Charles Dickens penned his classic Oliver Twist. A wealth of galleries – including the Tate London - showcase pieces from world-renowned artists, while the settings of numerous blockbusters and TV shows can be visited – including Durham Castle, the site of Hogwarts, and Highclere Castle, perhaps better recognised as Downton Abbey.

Cities

One of Europe’s greatest cities, London is home to some of England’s best cultural and historical attractions. You’ll find amazing museums, outstanding art, mesmerising theatre and more green parklands and deer-strewn commons than London’s European counterparts. Watch the iconic Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, before meeting traditional Beefeaters at the Tower of London. Shop in iconic stores, like Harrods and Liberty of London, or ride double-decker buses, black taxi-cabs, Thames cruisers, The Underground Tube and the glorious London Eye. Refuel over hearty pub lunches, traditional afternoon teas, street food feasts or sublime multi-course menus in celebrity hangouts. Whatever you decide to do, England’s bustling capital will not disappoint. Beyond London, England's cities continue to excite - from the musical scene of Manchester, to arty Bristol, to innovative Newcastle.
