A romantic, country retreat for couples in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bardessono offers a seductive blend of contemporary elegance and a relaxed yet sophisticated ambience. It is a place for pure pampering with a fantastic spa offering a wide range of treatments, some of which harnesses the properties of organic grape seed oil, and each of the 62 guest rooms and suites have the facility for in-room spa services, as well as a private outdoor seating area, organic cotton bed linen, hand-crafted bath products and a television. Lucy Restaurant and Bar serves menus based on local, farm-fresh ingredients, including produce from the kitchen garden, which you can take a tour of with the Chef. Lucy’s also offers beverages including artisan-crafted cocktails and wines from small producers and organic vintners. There are many vineyards nearby that offer wine-tasting experiences, or take one of the hotel’s bicycles and explore the area at your own pace. Bardessono's spa suites, with their massage tables tucked away in cabinets and enormous jetted baths, (Steam Spa Suites also come with a steam shower) mean you never have to leave your room to enjoy a day at the spa. Treatments are seasonally based, and include a wide range of massages, wraps, polishes, soaks and rituals as well as men-only and couples treatments. Opt for the Vinotherapy Massage - in-keeping with the essence of the Napa Valley region it harnesses the properties of organic Chardonnay Grape Seed Oil, for an anti-ageing effect on the skin. If you do, however. venture to the small but rather lovely spa you'll find it heated and cooled by an underground geothermal system and featuring an infrared sauna.

At the hotel’s shop you can purchase a selection of goods created by artisans from around the world, including hand loomed baby alpaca throw blankets from Peru, jewellery, candles, leather goods, hand-sewn bags and dolls from recycled Japanese Indigo dyed cloth, printed cloths, hand-made papers, glassware, mineral makeup and olive oil.

Disabled Services

There are four ADA standard guest rooms available, namely the Accessible King Spa Suite, Accessible King Steam Spa Suite, Accessible King or Queen Steam Spa Suite and Accessible Tufa Suite. All ADA guest rooms feature a roll-in shower, wheelchair accessible doors and pathways, grab rails, shower bench, portable hearing assistance device and a hand-held shower head. Around the rest of the property, all passageways are wheelchair accessible with supporting ramps for elevation changes. There is also lift access to the spa and pool whereby there is a hydraulic lift that offers access to both.

Climate

California is one of North America’s sunniest states and enjoys a Mediterranean-style climate. Generally, Californian summers are warm and dry, while winters are reasonably mild and moderately wet.

Northern California, including San Francisco:
The northern coast is generally cooler and wetter than coastal areas further south. Along the coast, sea fog occurs and this reduces the amount of sunshine hours in both summer and winter compared to further inland. The city of San Francisco has cool to mild summers, which is caused by the sea fog which regularly washes over San Francisco Bay and can be chilly and/or foggy at any time of year. However, frost and snow are not common on the coast, and winters in much of California are fairly mild and moderately wet. However, more mountainous parts – such as Sierra Nevada, experience more rainfall and at greater heights this falls as snow, offering the opportunity for winter activities.

Central and Southern California, including Los Angeles:
In central and southern California summers tend to be very dry. There may be short-lived spells of cold weather in wintertime. Los Angeles suffers a city smog – a mixture of pollution and fog – which is at its worst from July to September. The smog lingers because the light winds are not strong enough to blow it past the surrounding hills.
