In Addition
Los Angeles is very close by and, in addition to attractions that are family-orientated, such as Universal Studios and Disneyland, there's so much more to see and visit, including the bright lights of Hollywood, the Getty Museum at the hilltop Getty Center (replete with European and American decorative art, sculptures and paintings) and Los Angeles Zoo's 1,200 animals.
The designer boutiques of Rodeo Drive can be found just thirty minutes away in nearby Beverly Hills, while closer to the hotel, Santa Monica Place is bursting with designer stores such as Tiffany & Co, Michael Kors, Burberry and Louis Vuitton.
The nine-acre Santa Monica Pier is a must-visit while staying at Fairmont Miramar Hotel and is conveniently close to the hotel. Visit its famous carousel (a national Historic Landmark), take a ride on its red and yellow ferris wheel, have a two-hour trapeze lesson at the pier's Trapeze School of New York, visit the arcade, do a spot of fishing or enjoy dishes of fresh seafood at the pier's seven restaurants. For those who love to bike-ride, there's a twenty-six-mile trail along the coastline, while there are opportunities to enjoy paddleboarding and surfing at Bay Street, a popular surf spot, with companies that offer rental of equipment and lessons.
For arts and culture, check out Bergamot Station, an old train depot containing no fewer than thirty-five galleries, while for gourmands, the four-times-weekly Farmers' Market is a must-visit and is incredibly popular with top chefs, celebrities and local residents, who adore the fresh, organic produce.
