Guests can also enjoy other fantastic adventures, including 4x4 off-road tours and whale-watching excursions.
This resort is an ideal choice for families, couples and would-be explorers looking for somewhere truly special.
Property Location
Wander from your guest room to the idyllic beach at Hulopo'e Bay, a crescent of soft, toffee-coloured sands caressed by crystal-clear seas. Calm waters and gentle waves promise wonderful swimming and snorkelling, with a chance to spot dolphins performing swirling acrobatics offshore. Complimentary beach services include comfy loungers and towels, as well as snorkelling gear. For a change of scenery, book an outing by Jeep to visit Kaiolohia or 'Shipwreck' Beach, stretching some eight miles and a fantastic place to beachcomb and watch crashing waves.
Lanai's location and scenery make a dream setting for romance. Banish any jetlag with a signature ritual in the couple's spa suite. Take a short hike over to the cliffs to find Sweetheart Rock - a place to cuddle up and gaze at the Pacific Ocean. If you're into golf, play as a pair on premium greens right next to the sea, or what about an island adventure on horseback, in a jeep or even on board a helicopter? End a day sailing into the sunset together on a private yacht charter, Champagne on ice, while chef prepares a special dinner for two at the best table in resort.
Jump in and discover the underwater delights of Hulopo'e Bay, a protected marine reserve that's home to an extraordinary coral reef system, shoals of tropical reef fish and Hawaiian Green Turtles. Explore coral grottos and lava caves teeming with aquatic life - top sites to note include Fish Rock, Kaunolu, Cathedrals and Menpachi Caves. The resort offers the latest scuba-diving gear and graded trips and there are even dive scooters for undersea cruising! Snorkelling and shallow diving (known as snuba) are also highly popular - little wonder enthusiasts come here.
Carved out of lava outcroppings, world-ranked Manele Golf Course's championship fairways unfurl high above Hulopo'e Bay, with a stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and sweeping skies. Its 18-hole layout is recognised for its playability and superb design, with three clifftop holes promising exhilarating play. Keen golfers will be tested with the five-tee concept, where shots over ravines and gorges must be exact, while beginners will be blown away with the scenery as they perfect their swing. Other features include complimentary golf clubs and golf balls for adults and children, as well as complimentary access to the driving range and putting green.
Kids For All Seasons offers a line-up of fantastic stuff for younger guests aged five to twelve years. They'll learn lots about the island's unique environment and culture - hunting for lizards, learning how to hula, tasting local food, collecting flowers to make a lei, building mini volcanos and lots more. Seasonal evening entertainment brings singing, stargazing and theme parties, from rock 'n' roll to glow-in-the-dark jamborees. Other family adventures include tennis, golfing, archery, horseriding, hiking and all kinds of watersports.
Using wonderfully therapeutic, ocean-based, products such as wild seaweed and algae oil, Hawanawana Spa offers a heavenly range of personalised treatments. Relax and revive with a nourishing signature body ritual or soothing facial or ease stretched muscles with a warm stone therapy massage. Otherwise, enjoy a mini spa treat by the pool, such as a scalp or foot massage, or perhaps a private meditation session or fitness class looking out to sea. Other delights include yoga on the beach, makeovers in the salon and scented steam rooms - lavender for ladies, eucalyptus for gents.
From the shores of Hulopo'e Bay, go for a dip in the sea and swim with Green Turtles. Watch Spinner Dolphins rotate their bodies like corkscrews in mid-air or plan a trip in winter for an unforgettable encounter with Humpback Whales. Lanai island is a paradise for North Pacific Humpback Whales from December to the end of April and you can join a sailing adventure, complete with 360-degree viewing platform. Local naturalists are on board to offer all kinds of fascinating snippets about these highly graceful creatures. Imagine your child's expression when they spot their first Humpback!
Dip into island heritage through the resort's special cultural programme and enjoy all sorts of traditional arts and crafts, as well as storytelling, lei-making and ukulele or hula lessons with local elders. The latter is especially popular and individuals, couples and families can learn the moves and chants whilst gaining a deeper understanding of this famous Hawaiian dance and its connection with nature. Lei-making is another popular activity and guests can learn how to create these beautiful garlands using flowers, leaves, feathers and shells.
Tease the tastebuds on a culinary adventure, commencing with a one-to-one poke class with chef. Similar to Japanese sashimi, guests can learn the art of preparing raw fish with various seasonings, then sample their creations over lunch with wine. Following a refreshing signature massage, visit a local farm to pick aromatic herbs and organic vegetables for the evening's private dinner. Next stop is Malibu Farm Bar for a craft cocktail-making class using some of your picked ingredients. The highlight of the day is a five-course dinner created for you and paired with delicious wines. With the sounds of the sea and the stars high above, the scene is set for an amazing 'Taste of Lanai'.
