Why Mandarin Oriental, Boston is so special...

City Highlights

Boston is teeming with theatres, opera houses and comedy clubs so make a space in your schedule to catch a show. We can highly recommend the record-breaking ‘Shear Madness’ which is a humorous murder-mystery romp and the longest running play in American history. The attraction here is that the script is mostly improvised so the outcome is never the same and always entertaining. Other night-time activities include Bikes@Night which guide visitors across the city using nothing but pedal-power – you'll get to see many of Boston's major landmarks, from the waterfront to the harbour, the streets, shops and Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. On clear nights head to the Boston University Judson B.Coit Observatory which holds public nights every Wednesday without charge (from 7.30pm in winter and 8.30pm in summer), or stay on campus and catch an American football college match.

Dining & Gourmet

Combining the flair and flavour of French cuisine with Boston's charm, the award-winning Bar Boulud is a stunning bistro and wine bar from world-renowned Daniel Boulud - chef-owner of a number of restaurants worldwide; including the three-Michelin starred DANIEL in New York City. The sleek interior boasts elegant rich leather booths, an impressive marble charcuterie counter and a striking, glass-enclosed wine cellar, making Bar Boulud the perfect venue for formal dinners and laid-back lunches alike. For private dining events, The Rhône Room can be booked for up to twenty guests, whilst the Chef's Table provides an exclusive and interactive culinary experience for up to eight.

Spa Breaks

A tranquil, urban oasis, the Forbes Five-star awarded spa offers a pampering experience beyond compare. The spa's holistic approach to wellness attends to the needs of body, mind and spirit, offering an extensive menu of luxurious treatments, both traditional and innovative; The New England Retreat journey uses herbs native to the area for stress-relief and unwinding, the Coffee and Frankincense Scrub invigorates and revives skin, whilst the Definite Detox Body Wrap is designed to target areas of stagnant circulation. Relax beyond your treatment in the 'Experience' Showers, Vitality Pools and authentic Hammam, or burn off some steam in the 24-hour fitness centre.

Climate

Summer is the hottest time of year in Boston, with an average temperature of 80 degrees and high humidity levels. December, January and February are the coldest months, with the most snowfall.  Spring and autumn’s temperatures are the most moderate, and because Boston is part of New England, it is particularly delightful in the autumn (September to early November) when the leaves of the many trees change colour, turning the whole region into a work of living art.

Take a stroll around the famous Copley Square in Back Bay, where you will unearth a handful of historic buildings, such as the ornate French-Romanesque Trinity Church, a masterpiece designed by the architect, Henry Hobson Richardson. Just across the street is the classic Boston Public Library, dating from 1852. It is America’s first municipal library, boasting a magnificent façade and wonderful artworks. Boston Common

Retreat to the marvellous 50-acre Boston Common, a lush green park, crisscrossed with walking paths and dotted with wonderful monuments. It is steeped in history, including being a campground for British troops during the Revolutionary War and as a field for grazing cattle until the 1830s. Today, the park serves as a destination for sunbathers, picnickers and theatre performances of Shakespeare on the Common in the summer months, whilst in the winter, the Frog Pond serves as an excellent ice-skating rink. Whether you take a leisurely stroll or a guided tour, you will not be disappointed with this green paradise.
