It's evident that
Round Hill Hotel and Villas is somewhere very special as soon as you begin to make your way towards reception. Villas are dotted through the hillside and the blue Caribbean Sea stretches out in front of you. Round Hill has such an esteemed history and you almost feel as though you are surrounded by its incredible guests of the past thanks to its bygone glamour.
This is luxury villa living at its finest and the hotel boasts villas from 1 to 6 bedrooms, making it perfect for, well, everyone. Each is uniquely crafted to showcase the owners' personal take on a Caribbean Beach House and comes with its own pool and multiple entertaining spaces both indoors and outdoors. The perfect home away from home.
Breakfast is served in your villa by the dedicated staff and there is something magical about just rolling out of bed and enjoying breakfast specially prepared just for you. The freshly squeezed orange juice is amazing and the banana bread is magnificent.
Beyond your villa's private facilities is a beautiful beach, sheltered and gently shelving making it perfect for even the smallest of water babies. The big kids may also enjoy the giant water trampoline, and younger guests will find creative, Jamaican-inspired activities at the Kids Club that are sure to keep them entertained.
Evenings are where the resort really comes alive, as guests come together to enjoy the fine Caribbean-influenced cuisine. The resort has its own vegetable garden and works with three local farms to ensure the food on offer is as local as possible. The product of which is divine. I experienced Jamaica Night during my stay, which offered a choice of jerk meats, fresh salads and evening entertainment - by the end of the night everyone was up dancing together and the atmosphere was incredible.
Jamaica Inn is an icon of the island that welcomes you with open arms. The family-owned hotel features a striking blue exterior, beautifully manicured gardens and the famous resident dog Shadow, making it feel like a true home from home.
The hotel's unique design was visionary, offering huge terraces that serve as your open-air living space, opening out directly onto the gardens, water or sandy beach. Premier Verandah Suites are perfect for beach lovers thanks to the direct access to the beach and the gentle sound of the rolling waves.
The hotel offers a wonderfully relaxed environment, with no TVs in rooms (although super-fast internet is throughout the property), and the opportunity to while the day away on the beach. The Ocean Spa is a rustic delight - simply spa nirvana. The treatment treehouses use local ingredients and the cliffside setting allows the sounds of the ocean to accompany your journey to feeling zen.
Join fellow guests for a sociable pre-dinner drink on the terrace before dining under the stars to the tunes of live local entertainment, or for a more casual dining experience, dine with your toes in the sand at Teddy's, named after the long-serving bar tender and Jamaica Inn character.
Of course,
GoldenEye has a rich history with the original villa being where Ian Flemming wrote some of the James Bond novels, but this is a hotel that wants everyone to have a great time. The arrival experience sees you enter the main resort over a little suspension bridge before touching down on the island where the majority of the property's rooms and facilities are located.
Rooms come in the form of beach house-style villas, cottages and beach huts and can be based around the stunning lagoon or beach. My favourite is definitely the Lagoon Villas where direct access can be gained from your deck and you can paddle board or kayak around the stunning lagoon. You can even moor up at the spa!
But for the ultimate retreat stay, the Flemming Villa lets you sit at the desk where Flemming penned his masterpieces, enjoy a James Bond marathon in the cinema room and relax around the pool or enjoy the private beach.
GoldenEye takes food very seriously and even has its own farm where they grow a lot of the hotel's produce. Dishes are locally inspired, and much like the hotel itself offer a modern twist on old classics. All are paired with a classic Red Stripe or owner Chris Blackwell's famous Blackwell rum.
Whether you are travelling as a couple, group of friends or family, everyone is sure to find something for them at
Half Moon. There is just so much to see and do, be it golf, tennis, the most incredible Children's village, bike rides or horse riding.
Even the accommodation has something to suit everyone's tastes with Founders Cove, which originally opened in 1954, boasting ten cottages around the bay and a more classically elegant décor. Eclipse is the newest section of the property. With its own entrance and reception, it has the atmosphere of a modern beach house fused with a city-chic style.
As you drive up through the gates you are greeted by majestic Royal Palms, abundant gardens and a white pillared entrance but it's the ocean in the background which makes you realise you have arrived in paradise.
Activities abound here and the Anancy Children's Village is one of the best children's facilities I have ever seen. Created around the Jamaica folklore of Anancy the Spider, it is designed like a chattel house village and will keep even the fussiest of 3 to 12 years olds entertained for hours. Golfers can enjoy the 18-hole par 72 Championship course, whilst those looking to relax can stop by the Fern Tree Spa for a treatment.
There are also nine tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, watersports, an equestrian centre. the list goes on and on! Though of course, there is always the beach or many pools to relax beside.
Whatever you are looking for on your next luxury holiday to Jamaica, one of our many properties is sure to be able to provide it. And with so much to see and do on the island, from the classic Dunn's River Falls and bamboo river rafting to high adrenaline tree top zip wires and ATV experiences, you can definitely choose your own rhythm.
