My stay started with an unforgettable journey from mainland Cancun, departing from the Marina Hacienda del Mar. The exclusive resort catamaran took me across the sea on a blissful 40-minute sail. Guests may also arrive at the resort via a speedboat transfer (providing a shorter 20-minute commute) depending on the number of guests arriving.
Approaching the property, the spectacle was nothing short of breathtaking. Artfully built into the natural landscape, the architecture is reminiscent of Mediterranean cities along the sea. My arrival really was the perfect start and I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement as I approached the resort on my catamaran as If I were starring in a Bond movie.
Once back on dry land, it was just a short walk to the main reception. The main lobby exuded a light and airy ambience, adorned with vibrant shark artwork and sculptures that reflect the property's commitment to the 'Saving our Sharks Foundation.' The welcoming staff, dressed in flowing linen uniforms, instantly set the tone for tranquillity. This experience surpassed my pre-arrival expectations, offering insights into the heart of Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets.
In the early evening, we had sundowners at The Temple. This is the resort's sunset terrace bar and wow! What a view! Watching the sun set whilst accompanied by live music, I just knew that this place had a sense of magic.
The dining is exquisite too - all served a la carte in casual and friendly restaurants. Breakfast at La Vista on the terrace and dinner at Spezia serving Italian specialties were highlights for me, but Wildfire Grill was also incredible. The latter is a fine-dining restaurant serving steaks and seafood, but as I was part of a large group the hotel arranged a pre-set 'family-style' meal for us so we could sample a host of dishes.
The rest of my stay was built around the array of daily complimentary activities, from guided e-bike tours to water aerobics in the sea, guided paddle-boarding to cacao ceremonies and even tarot reading! Each evening a list of activities for the next day was left in my room, so I could plan out my next day in paradise.
Some of my favourites were the 45-minute e-bike tour which was an incredible way of seeing the destination (and had plenty of stops to catch my breath), and of course, as a chocolate lover, the cacao ceremony conducted by a Shamen was an amazing experience!
I can wholeheartedly say that I enjoyed every aspect of this very special stay. I know many people who have travelled to Mexico and have said that it left a lasting impression on their hearts - Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets did that and more. I will certainly be returning soon.
