This former Portuguese- Colonial residence is set amidst expansive grounds filled with an abundance of flora - nourished by the constant spray from the cascading waters - and unique fauna, including toucans and giant butterflies. The best way to enjoy the falls is by boat, with tours on Iguazú River leading visitors directly through the path of the waterfalls’ shower. You will definitely get wet as you savour a close up view of these incredible falls. Just over the border in Argentina, Garganta del Dablo (Devil’s Throat) is one of the mightiest sections of the falls, with unbelievable volumes of water tumbling over this giant natural funnel.

Visitors exploring the park will discover a vast array of plant and animal life. With over five hundred animal species and around two thousand different plant species, the variety of wildlife to discover is immense and truly remarkable. A great way to experience this is through a wildlife tour, such as a safari trip. Traverse the jungle and experience all the park has to offer, then hop on a boat and ride along Iguazú River. Trips can also include safari-style drives and an electric train ride.

Poço Preto (Black Well) Trail

One of the most popular and renowned trips in Iguazú National Park is the Poço Preto (Black Well) Trail. It can be traversed on foot, by bicycle or by car, and covers a beautiful stretch of flora and fauna. Majestic suspension bridges are crossed as part of the trail, which includes a visit to a ten-metre-high observation tower. From here, you can enjoy lovely views of the park below, as well as the gorgeous Lagoa do Jacare (Alligator Pond). A trip on the upper Iguazú River is incorporated into the trail, as you will pass by Arquipelago das Taquaras (Bamboo Archipelago). A kayak excursion can also be included, allowing enjoyment of the aquatic vegetation and wildlife.
