Luxury Holidays At Beho Beho

Family-owned for over forty years, Beho Beho was the original camp in the Selous Game Reserve. Its name derives from the gentle breezes that cool the camp from its incredibly elevated position in the highlands. Only allowing children over the age of twelve years, the atmosphere is relaxed, sophisticated and undeniably romantic. Meals are taken leisurely and comprise delicious locally-inspired dishes - whether bush breakfasts, afternoon tea or gourmet candlelit dinners. Showcasing the wonderful wildlife that calls the reserve their home, unforgettable safaris from Beho Beho are conducted on foot, by vehicle or by boat on Lake Tagalala.

Eight authentic bandas are open-fronted, allowing for breathtaking views over the bush. For those seeking complete privacy, Bailey’s Banda is the perfect choice. This exclusive owner’s cottage has two en suite bedrooms and an open-plan living area, opening out onto a private plunge pool and sun deck. The cottage comes with a team of staff, as well as use of a private safari vehicle and boat.

Safari

The Selous is Africa’s largest Game Reserve and Beho Beho has a prime location at the heart of the wildlife action. As a result, it’s not uncommon for an array of animals to roam through the camp while you're enjoying lunch or relaxing by the pool. Taking you directly into the breathtaking bush, early morning and late afternoon safaris are conducted in open-sided vehicles, on foot, or by boat on Lake Tagalala. The wildlife in the Selous is truly prolific, with vast herds of elephants and lakes brimming with hippos. Go in search of lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog, or spot some of the 440 bird species that have been recorded in the area. On a walking safari from Beho Beho, as well as looking for wildlife, you can visit fascinating WWI trenches and the grave of Frederick Courtney Selous, after whom the reserve is named.

Hotel Experiences

Guests who stay a minimum of four nights at Beho Beho have the opportunity to experience something quite magical; an overnight stay in the charming treehouse. Escorted by a guide, you will walk for approximately two hours into the wilderness, reaching the stunningly remote area where the treehouse is located. After cocktails, a campfire dinner and a spot of stargazing, you can retire to your en suite bedroom, nestled in the branches. What's more, the bed is on wheels and can be moved onto the deck if you want to sleep under the stars. Wake to the sound of bird song and the delicious scent of breakfast being prepared by your chef.

The wildlife in the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park is prolific, and safaris can be done in a variety of ways. Walking Safaris

Reignite your senses on a walking safari. Accompanied by armed guides and trackers, you will focus on the smaller flora and fauna of the parks.  No two walks are the same and you never know what you may encounter; perhaps a family herd of elephants, rhinos grazing, or a sleeping leopard in a tree.
