Since 2006 I have worked as a Caribbean specialist in the luxury travel industry and have been in my current position with Elegant Resorts since 2009, where I also cover North America. During this time I have been fortunate enough to travel many times to the Caribbean and have had the pleasure of experiencing many of the hotels within our portfolio.
I started working in travel in 2000, specialising in long-haul destinations. During 2004 I decided that I wanted to experience for myself the destinations that I was sending so many other travellers to, so I took a two-year sabbatical when I spent 18 months extensively exploring Australia, followed by six months in South East Asia. I then returned to the UK in 2006 and took up a position specialising in the Caribbean. This was a new area for me, so it was great to learn and experience a different part of the world. In 2008 I took a short sabbatical to spend three months on a road trip to the USA and in 2009 I took up my current position with Elegant Resorts as a Caribbean and North America specialist Since then, I have travelled extensively, spending three months exploring South America, where I sailed around the Galapagos Islands and climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, and touring the Deep South of the USA. This has given me a great opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences with my clients and colleagues.
